I love the island of Nantucket and have always been interested in its history which is so entwined with the sea that surrounds it. I have also always loved the Nantucket Lightship Basket. When I was a child, I hoped that one day I would be able to own one of these lovely treasures which I had come to admire for so long.
Over Thirty years ago, I began to make these wonderful baskets myself! Every basket is one of a kind and traditionally made by hand, tightly woven using only the finest quality materials. Each basket evolves into a beautiful work of art as it is adorned with its ivory and ebony carvings and scrimshaw.
My passion for these baskets has inspired me to pursue excellence in their creation. My hope is that each one will become a family heirloom to be treasured and passed on to future generations.
I am a member of the Nantucket Lightship Basket Association and my baskets have been displayed at the Nantucket Lightship Basket Museum. I’ve won numerous awards for outstanding workmanship and have placed first in art shows. My baskets are being made and sold on Nantucket today.
I invite you to fall in love with the Nantucket Basket as I did so many years ago and to own one yourself!
